Three Reasons You Should Avoid Gutter Cleaning At Your Peril
If you’ve looked up at your gutters and thought that they look more like Ferry Meadows or Grafham Water, than the clean gutters you want around your home – you need to give us a call. In this blog post we have put together just three reasons that you should avoid gutter cleaning at your peril.
*Spoiler Alert* if you don’t clean your gutters or get your gutters cleaned by a professional, it doesn’t end well!
Vegetation
Ferns, plants and bushes look nice in almost any garden, but vegetation in your gutters is not good.
Birds will pick up seeds from gardens and as they fly over your home, they might drop them by accident. They end up in your gutter and if the gutter hasn’t been cleaned out for some time, you have the perfect base for the seeds to flourish and grow. If it’s vegetation and a glorious garden you’re after, clear out the blockages from your gutter and use it as compost.
Three Reasons You Should Avoid Gutter Cleaning At Your Peril – Waterfalls
While we don’t have any waterfalls at Ferry Meadows and Grafham Water, we don’t need them at home either. Waterfalls can be spectacular to watch, but not if the waterfall is coming off your gutters or out of your downpipes. The job of the gutter is to take rainwater away from your property home in a controlled way. If you have water pouring over the sides of your gutter, then you know your gutters are blocked.

Animals
Wildlife is great, at Grafham Water or Ferry Meadows. It’s not great around your home or in your gutters though. There is a lot not to like about animals such as mice, squirrels and birds in your loft space. Unattended and unclean gutters will encourage these animals to live in your gutters, on your roof and in your loft. By keeping the gutters clean and free flowing there is nothing to attract these animals which will reduce the risk of gutter damage and blockages.

If you’ve noticed vegetation, waterfalls or animals around your home, call our team. We can book you in for a gutter clean so your gutters are clean, clear and free flowing once more.
